world! The 2012 GEOIDE Summer School will be held at Université Laval
in Quebec City from May 6-11, 2012.

International Workshop on Geospatial
Data Quality – Legal, ethical and technical aspects.
Time: 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM on Friday, May 18th 2012, in the Quebec City
Convention Centre, Room 205C.
The workshop will follow the Global Geospatial
Conference 2012, to be held on May 14-17th at the same venue.
The workshop will start by a keynote address from Kevin Pomfret, Executive
Director of the Centre for Spatial Law, followed by talks presenting the
main research results coming from the project IV-23 of GEOIDE network.
The workshop will finish with a panel discussion on “Volunteered
geographic information (VGI) : Legal and Ethics issues” facilitated
by Roger Longhorn and involving David Coleman, Michael Goodchild, Harlan
Onsrud and Teresa Scassa.

GeoConnections, together with NASA, IEEE, and NCAR
is organizing a Workshop on Defining, Measuring, and Communicating the
Socioeconomic Benefits of Geospatial
Information. The workshop will take place at National Center for Atmospheric
Research (NCAR), Foothills Campus, Boulder Colorado, June 12 – 14,
2012. Please find attached an invite for presentations covering the
practice, development and research experiences on quantitative socioeconomic
assessments
including methodologies and metrics for assessing and communicating
the value of geospatial information. The deadline for submission is March
9, 2012.
Geospatial information contributes to decisions by government, the
private sector, civil society and individuals. More effective use of
this information is essential as issues are complex, and consequences
can be critical for future economic and social development. Participants
will represent a broad range of natural, social and economic sciences
from government, academia, NGOs, and the private sector. -CALL FOR
