RIGHTS

The Canadian Insitute of Geomatics grants the Subscriber and authorized users at the Subscriber's institution the right to access the electronic version of Geomatica volumes for which the Subscriber maintains an electronic subscription.

It is a condition of receiving access to the electronic journals that any person who violates either the copyright or the restrictions on distribution, or who condones such acts, may be deprived of future access, including access to back issues, without compensation or refund, while The Canadian Insitute of Geomatics retains the further right to any legal remedies that may be available.

AUTHORIZED USERS

Institutional Subscribers: Authorized users are defined as employees, faculty, and students of the Subscriber who access the electronic journals from a computer terminal within the range of the Internet Protocol (IP) addresses provided by the Subscriber at time of purchase. Access to the electronic journal by persons other than those listed above is restricted to the use of a computer terminal located in a Subscriber library.

Individual Subscribers: Authorized users may access the online purchased volume through a username and password provided by the Canadian Insitute of Geomatics.

AUTHORIZED SITE

An authorized site is a contiguous campus community or buildings that are reporting to the same administrative body. Affiliated locations outside of the defined site are considered to be separate sites. Within a multi-company/Government/Educational Institution complex or building, each company/Government/Educational Institution is considered to be a separate site.

USAGE RESTRICTIONS

The Subscriber and authorized users may view, print, and download single copies of articles or other content for personal use.

The Subscriber and authorized users may not make copies for general distribution, for advertising or other promotional purposes, for creating new collective works, or for any resale purpose such as document delivery. For such copying, separate agreements must be made with the copyright owner. The Subscriber will notify all authorized users of permitted and prohibited use, and the Subscriber will take any corrective action necessary against authorized users who contravene these conditions.

PERPETUAL ACCESS TO JOURNAL

Once purchased, the Geomatica journals will be accessible in perpetuity. In this respect, the information that is stored electronically by the supplier should meet the same demands as those of the paper documents that are managed directly by the Canadian Insitute of Geomatics.
Should the Canadian Insitute of Geomatics relationship with the NRC Research Press be terminated its authorised users may archive a downloadable PDF digital copy within their digital library.

COPYRIGHT

No part of the Canadian Insitute of Geomatics electronic Geomatica journal may be reproduced, stored, or transmitted in any form or by any means, without the written permission of the publisher, except as stated below.

Under the Canadian Copyright Act, individuals may download or print single copies of articles for personal research or study. Any person may reproduce short excerpts (<100 words) from articles in the journals for any purpose that respects the moral rights of Geomatica, provided that the source is fully acknowledged. As a courtesy, the consent of such material should be obtained directly from the Canadian Insitute of Geomatics.

Authorization to reproduce items for other than personal research or study, as stated above, may be obtained from the Canadian Insitute of Geomatics at editgeo@magma.ca or under license by Access©.

The Canadian Insitute of Geomatics also extends certain additional rights to authors.

WARRANTY

The Canadian Insitute of Geomatics accepts no responsibility for statements or opinions expressed by a contributor and consequently accepts no liability for damages that may result from the Subscriber's use of the Geomatica journal. Acceptance of an advertisement, announcement, or other material does not imply endorsement by either the Geomatica Editors or The Canadian Insitute of Geomatics.

AUTHORS' RIGHTS

Copyright in all articles in Geomatica journals remains with Geomatica and the Canadian Insitute of Geomatics.

Under the terms of the license granted to Geomatica, authors retain the following rights:

1. To post a copy of their submitted manuscript (pre-print) on their own Web site, an institutional repository, or their funding body's designated archive.
2. To post a copy of their accepted manuscript (post-print) on their own Web site, an institutional repository, or their funding body's designated archive. Authors who archive or self-archive accepted articles must provide a hyperlink from the manuscript to Geomatica’s Web site.
3. They and any academic institution where they work at the time may reproduce their manuscript for the purpose of course teaching.
4. To reuse all or part of their manuscript in other works created by them for noncommercial purposes, provided the original publication in Geomatica is acknowledged through a note or citation.
